Mike Perry claims YouTuber Jake Paul was a ‘better spar’ than Darren Till.

Mike Perry was caught by surprise when he stepped into the boxing ring earlier this year to spar with Jake Paul, claiming that the YouTube celebrity was a ‘better spar’ than UFC middleweight Darren Till.

Perry, who admitted that Paul got the better of him in that sparring session, claims the 3-0 boxer has ‘different tricks’ up his sleeve and is not to be underestimated by future opponents. ‘Platinum’ previously warned that Ben Askren was making a mistake in boxing Paul on April 17 — a warning that ultimately fell on deaf ears.

“Jake Paul was a better spar than Till,” Perry told The Mac Life in a recent interview (h/t MMA Mania). “That was an awkward situation with the gloves and shit. Yeah, definitely though.”

“Making you think he’s gonna engage then doesn’t,” Perry said about Paul’s strengths as a boxer. “He’s got long reach, he’s got different tricks, he taught me something. First round he started doing something and I was like ‘okay’ … it wasn’t doing damage, but it was like keeping him at bay.”

Paul is fresh off a first-round KO victory over Askren and will look to extend his win streak to four when he takes on former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at a Showtime Sports event on Aug. 28.

Perry, 29, last fought at UFC on ABC 2, where he suffered a lopsided decision defeat to Daniel Rodriguez. The Floridan is 2-4 in his last six fights.
