There was a time in the not-too-distant past when the idea of Amanda Nunes vs. Kim Kardashian would have resulted in pitchforks and torches. But now that social media stars like Jake and Logan Paul command the combat sports pay-per-view (PPV) market, there’s probably some overseas oil baron trying to make this fight happen.
And it would likely do gangbusters at the box office.
“Imagine if Kim Kardashian wanted to fight Amanda Nunes,” UFC President Dana White told Farah Hannoun on UFC Arabia. “How big do you think that fight would be? It’d be huge! There’s always going to be a market for that kind of stuff, there’s always going to be people that are willing to put down 50 bucks for that.”
Kardashian lost her one and only celebrity boxing match to Tamara Frapasella back in 2009.
Nunes didn’t hesitate to challenge Kardashian on social media, but the joke turned serious when former UFC rival Cris Cyborg responded, suggesting there was another fight combat sports fans would be more interested in seeing.
And that’s when dopey MMA fans — who lined up to buy tickets for Conor McGregor’s rematch against Dustin Poirier despite getting knocked out — replied with “lololol you already got KTFO, get over it.”
Cyborg is now doing work for Bellator MMA so there’s about as much chance of that rematch happening as there is of getting pen-to-paper for Nunes vs. Kardashian. Unless it was like the Tyson-Jones Jr. PPV where head strikes and knockouts were strictly forbidden.
I smell money!
