Former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade is reportedly set to face Cynthia Calvillo in September.
Former UFC strawweight champion already has a rebound fight reportedly lined up following her failed attempt to win the flyweight strap. Per ESPN Deportes’ report, ‘Bate Estaca’ will now take on a fellow contender in Cynthia Calvillo, at UFC 266.
In her last appearance, Andrade (21-9) was TKO’d by Valentina Shevchenko, back in April, in a fight that marked her second flyweight outing. In her divisional debut, the 29-year-old scored a first-round TKO victory over top contender Katlyn Chookagian, which is Jessica’s sole win in her last four outings. Before moving to flyweight, the Brazilian was on a two-fight losing skid, with losses to Rose Namajunas and Weili Zhang.
Calvillo (9-2-1) will also look to recover from a defeat, though her situation is not as bad as Andrade’s. In her last outing, Cynthia dropped a unanimous decision to Chookagian, back in November 2020. However, the 33-year-old scored a unanimous decision of her against Jessica Eye in her previous match, in June of the same year, with a majority draw against Marina Rodriguez just before.
Now, Andrade is expected to take on Calvilloa at UFC 266, on September 4, in a location yet to be determined by the organization. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between the champion, Jan Blachowicz, and challenger Glover Teixeira.
