Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva has suffered another knockout loss.

The return of Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva did not go as planned this past weekend.

Silva returned to mixed martial arts competition for the first time since suffering a second-round knockout loss to Vitaly Minakov at Fight Nights Global 68: Pavlovich vs. Mokhnatkin in 2017. On Sunday night, he met Quentin Domingos at Megdan Fighting 9 in Sabac, Serbia and looked to snap the longest losing streak of his professional career. Unfortunately, Silva was unable to do just that as he suffered yet another technical knockout loss, but it may have come with some controversy.

In the second round, Silva and Domingos start exchanging shots in the middle of the ring when the former Strikeforce and UFC heavyweight drops to the canvas after a combination. Domingos goes in for some follow-up punches on the ground when the referee quickly enters and starts prying him off of Silva, who is now getting back to his feet while still eating punches.

Silva looks perplexed and holds his hands up to the referee as he waves off the fight around the 90 second mark. He protests to the referee, but the fight is officially declared over at this point.

Silva took to social media afterwards to address the loss and question the stoppage by the referee. He also posted another angle of the end of the fight to show why it may not have warranted a stoppage.

“Why [did] the referee stop the fight,” asked Silva (translation via MMA Fighting). “You train hard for months and abdicate from things like food, fun and sometimes even family to be 100 percent for a fight, and a referee comes and ruins all the hard work you’ve done day after day. Losing or winning is part [of the sport] but unfortunately some people don’t know or understand the sport they are part of.

“I was sent this video that gives you an idea that there was no reason for the referee to stop the fight.”

Silva is now on a six-fight losing streak, with five of those losses coming by way of knockout. His last win came against Soa Palelei at UFC 190 in 2015.
