Triller Fight Club has postponed its June 19 pay-per-view (PPV) card in Miami after event headliner, undisputed lightweight world champion Teofimo Lopez, tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw.
As a result, his mandatory title defense against George Kambosos will be rescheduled for Aug. 14 at a location to be determined.
“We send our best to Teofimo and his family and hope they get well soon, and look forward to seeing this epic battle on August 14, 2021,” said Triller Fight Club co-founder Ryan Kavanaugh.
The change in dates will likely force Lopez to cancel his plans for a second fight on Oct. 2.
Sadly, the celebrity boxing match between UFC veteran Vitor Belfort and social media weirdo “The Real Tarzann” will also go by the wayside, though it’s unclear if Triller plans to rebook that bout for the August card.
Charles “Bad News” Conwell, Willie “El Mongoose” Monroe Jr., and Zhilel “Bang Bang” Zhang were also expected to compete.
