This fight was previously scheduled for May before Clark withdrew.

Take two on this fight!

MMA Fighting confirmed earlier in the week (following the initial report from MMA DNA) that a light heavyweight bout between Ion Cutelaba and Devin Clark is set for a UFC Fight Night card on September 18th. A main event has yet to be announced for this card, which is expected to be in Las Vegas at the UFC APEX.

Cutelaba (15-6-1-1 NC) is in an arguable must-win spot. He recovered from a brutal start vs. Dustin Jacoby to snatch a draw, but he’s still winless in his last three after an early stoppage TKO loss to Magomed Ankalaev, followed by a no controversy KO in the rematch. The Moldovan’s last win was an elbow TKO of Khalil Rountree in September 2019.

Clark (12-5) was submitted by triangle choke against Anthony Smith in last November’s UFC Vegas 15 main event. He’s had an up-and-down UFC career, with a mark of 6-5 and yet if there’s one thing in his favor it’s the fact that he’s never had a losing streak. All of his UFC wins have been by decision yet all of his losses have been by stoppage, which is a problem against someone with Cutelaba’s abilities.

This matchup was first scheduled for UFC Vegas 25 on May 1st, but Clark withdrew due to injury and that’s how Cutelaba ended up facing Jacoby. Now we get to see the Clark fight after all… maybe. It’s MMA and we know not to bank on these fights happening.
