Jeremy Stephens gives his take on the upcoming boxing match between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley.
Jeremy Stephens thinks people could be underestimating Jake Paul ahead of his Aug. 28 boxing match with Tyron Woodley, claiming that the YouTuber could shock the world with another highlight reel knockout victory.
Stephens labelled Paul an ‘athletic freak’ and credited the 3-0 YouTube boxer for not being afraid to ‘put himself out there’ against one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time.
“I think Jake Paul’s got some skills, man,” Stephens told MMA News’ James Lynch in a recent interview. “I think a lot of people kind of estimate this guy. I think he actually is gonna do really well against Tyron Woodley, and he might knock him out. And he’s got the money, and the training, and he’s surrounded himself with really good people, and he’s an athletic freak. And he’s not afraid to put himself out there. I’m kinda diggin’ this guy.”
Paul previously KO’d Woodley’s longtime friend and teammate Ben Askren at a Triller event on April 17, but ‘Funky’ is considered one of the worst overall strikers in MMA. Woodley, however, possesses knockout power in both hands and — unlike Askren — is in fighting shape all-year-round. ‘T-Wood’ is also a former UFC welterweight champion and future UFC Hall of Famer.
Paul vs. Woodley is scheduled to take place on Aug. 28 at a TBA location.
Stephens will return to the octagon on July 17 when he takes on Mateusz Gamrot in a lightweight matchup at UFC on ESPN 26.
