Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix participant Josh ‘The Baby Faced Assassin’ Barnett (29-5) was once considered by many to be the baddest man on the planet going so far as winning the UFC heavyweight title. A positive test for banned substances stripped him of that title and has plagued his career ever since.
This Saturday he will step back into a Zuffa owned cage when he meets fellow tournament participant Brett Rogers on the Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum card in Dallas, Texas. He will look for his seventh straight win and a chance to fight Sergei Kharitonov in the semi-finals.
Barnett spoke to ESPN recently and shared some of his personal views on life and living. One of those views ‘The Baby Faced Assassin’ shared was his theory on violence and it’s ties to DNA.
“It’s a DNA thing. I’d like to get a DNA test to see if I have the Warrior Gene,” Barnett said. “Some of my sentiments on things seem far and above what most people can relate to.”
Barnett, for example, touts the way in which he’ll put away Rogers on Saturday.
“Ever since the day I met him, I’ve always got the vibe that he thought he can kick my ass. I’m sure he still feels as such. That being said, I’m glad he does. It means he’s going to go out there and try to beat me up, which will make it better when I punch his heart out.”
You almost get the sense he means it literally.
“I would,” he confirms.
