Two-time Olympic judo gold medalist Kayla Harrison continues her quest for a second Professional Fighters League (PFL) Lightweight title tonight (Fri., June 25, 2021), taking on Invicta and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran Cindy Dandois in the second round of this year’s season.

In the co-feature, former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis looks to move past his promotional debut loss to Clay Collard against recent upset author Raush Manfio. The main card will also see two-time Featherweight champion Lance Palmer take on dangerous finisher Movlid Khaybulaev and Denis Goltsov meet Brandon Sayles at Heavyweight.

This week’s undercard focuses on the Heavyweight and women’s Lightweight seasons, which include the likes of Larissa Pacheco, Kaitlin Young and Klidson Abreu, among others.

155 lbs.: Kayla Harrison vs. Cindy Dandois

Round one: Harrison on the advance. Body kick lands for her. Dandois shoots, then pulls guard. Left hand from Harrison a minute in, then more ground-and-pound. Good pass to side control. Trying to set up a crucifix as she lands a string of right hands. More punches piling up. Two minutes in. Knee on belly. Dandois briefly sweeps her, but loses position and eats more punches. Back to guard. Two minutes to go.

Harrison stands over her, kicks her legs, then goes back to punching. Slick pass to side control and then mount with a minute to work. More punches as she isolates an arm, then she turns for an armbar that draws a quick tap.

Final result: Harrison def. Dandois by submission (armbar)


155 lbs.: Anthony Pettis vs. Raush Manfio

Round one: Counter right lands for Pettis early on. Jab from Manfio. Pettis tries a spinning kick. Hard left hand a minute in. Wheel kick attempt. Counter combo connects for Manfio. Pettis low kicks. Two minutes in. Manfio with a long right hand. Pettis tries to counter a low kick. Manfio catches a body kick, can’t use it. Combination attempt. Two minutes to go.

Both try body kicks. Manfio low kick. Body kick connects. Pettis answers with a low kick with a minute to go. Counter 2-1 to answer a body kick. Lead right and leg kick. 10-9 Pettis.

Round two: Early exchange in center cage. Right cross from Pettis connects, as does a nasty low blow by Manfio. Pettis recovers, fires a Superman punch. One minute in. Low kick connects. Manfio tries a combo near the fence. Pettis continuing to circle and land low kicks. Good right hand. Two minutes in. Combinations from Pettis, eats a low kick. Nice body shot. Manfio struggling to let his hands go. Two minutes to go.

There’s a lead right by Manfio. Pettis low kicks and right cross, left hook comes back at him. Another left hook from Manfio. One minute to go. Pettis with a Superman punch. Right crosses connect, then he takes another low blow. Aggressive exchanges when they resume. Good leg kick by Manfio. 10-9 Pettis.

Round three: Pettis landing jabs early on. Body kick from Manfio, then a leg kick. Hard combo by Manfio sends Pettis to his back and he elects to wave Pettis up. Heavy attacks from Manfio on the fence. Brutal clinch knee scores a second knockdown, but Pettis manages to survive and get back to his feet. Another knee from Manfio as they separate. Body kick connects. Two minutes in. Manfio content to sit at range despite his early success. Pettis body kick. Lead right. Two minutes to go.

Manfio body kick. Lead right hand. One minute to go. Leg kick connects. Pettis tries a wheel kick. Manfio still not pressing the issue. Pettis counter right. 10-9 MAnfio.

Final result: Manfio def. Pettis by split decision


145 lbs.: Lance Palmer vs. Movlid Khaybulaev

Round one: Khaybulaev tries a wheel kick to start. Very tentative on both sides. Body kick lands for Khaybulaev a minute in. Palmer low kick. Khaybulaev with another snap kick downstairs. Palmer with another good leg kick, can’t land the Superman punch. Khaybulaev shoots, denied. Front kick to the body. Palmer drops Khaybulaev with a right hand and takes him to the fence. They separate with two minutes to go.

Some heavier exchanges now. Khaybulaev trying to counter, then sprints at him for a moment. One minute to go. Khaybulaev tries a front kick, takes a leg kick. 10-9 Palmer.

Round two: Khaybulaev lands a solid leg kick before taking Palmer down, looking for a low mount. Palmer stands, eats a hard knee, has to fight off a rear wast lock. Stuck on a knee a minute in. High-amplitude takedown by Khabulaev to drag him back down, looking for the back. Again Palmer makes it to his feet but can’t dislodge Khaubulaev. Back down, back up two minutes in. Over to the fence and still Khaybulaev won’t let go of the body lock. Two minutes to go.

Knees to the thigh. Palmer trying to break his grip, finally does so and separates. Good left hand from Palmer. Khaybulaev whiffs on a spinning back fist with a minute to go. Another straight left by Palmer, eats a leg kick in return. Counter right lands for Khaybulaev, misses the counter knee. Another Palmer left hand, avoids a wheel kick. 10-9 Khaybulaev.

Round three: Check hook by Khaybulaev, then a wild jumping punch attempt. Palmer trying to press forward, quick exchange. Counter lefts from Khaybulaev. Palmer tries a head kick, takes a right hand. Heavy counter flurry by the Dagestani two minutes in. Palmer tries a combo. Head kick attempt. Two minutes to go.

Khaybulaev shoots, abandons it. Spinning back kick attempt. Palmer looks for a head kick, Khaybulaev tries to spin with a minute to go. Neither man really committing at the moment. Both land their power hands, then another good left by Palmer. Khaybulaev comes back with a left hook, then another left behind a flying knee attempt. Good final efforts. 10-9 Khaybulaev.

Final result: Khaybulaev def. Palmer by unanimous decision


265 lbs.: Denis Goltsov vs. Brandon Sayles

Round one: Trading single punches and low kicks to start. Goltsov looks to have the sharper jab. One minute in. Sayles falls short on the left hook, eats a jab, lands leg kicks. Trading more leg kicks. Sayles on the front foot, doing good work on that lead leg. Front kick downstairs, catches Goltsov leaning with a head kick. Two minutes to go.

Goltsov circling, continuing to stab with the jab. Combination lands for him, check hook from Sayles in return. Goltsov shoots with a minute to go, denied, gets taken to the fence. Outside trip puts him on top in half guard and he wraps up an Ezekiel choke for a moment before losing it. 10-9 Goltsov.

Round two: Sneaky head kicks from Goltsov in the early going. Sayles tossing out more kicks, gets countered by a right hand and cracked by a jab. Goltsov ties up and trips him back down into half guard a minute in. Full mount just seconds later. He looks for the Ezekiel again, still can’t get it. Two minutes in. Looking for it once again, still no dice. Two minutes to go.

Goltsov continuing to look for the Ezekiel without success, throwing limited ground-and-pound. One minute to go. He moves to side control, looks for north/south, then wraps up a d’arce as Sayles turns into him. He loses it and ends up on the bottom in side control. Sayles doesn’t have enough time for the arm triangle. 10-9 Goltsov.

Round three: Good right cross from Goltsov to start the round. Sayles looking like a stationary target at the moment. Goltsov with a combo into a head kick, then a clinch. He trips Sayles down a minute in. Hard punches from half guard and Sayles turtles up until the ref steps in.

Final result: Goltsov def. Sayles by TKO (punches)
