UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens has never felt better after cutting alcohol out of his life.

After cutting out alcohol, Jeremy Stephens has never felt better during his lengthy UFC career.

Stephens (28-18, 1NC) is scheduled to face Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Vegas 31 later this month. The UFC veteran revealed in April that he was inspired to get sober for the better of his mother after she almost passed away following a long battle with addiction.

Talking to MMA Junkie ahead of his fight on July 17th, Stephens explained how much better he feels after going sober.

“I just feel in a really good place mentally, physically,” Stephens said. “I feel like I’m even looking better. The no alcohol, it’s opened up a lot of things for me. I’ve really faced my demons. I’ve sat. I’ve been alone. I’m not scared to be alone no more. I really sat with myself and dealt with a lot of fears facing those things and more mental. It’s just really helped ripple effect the outside of my life.”

‘Lil Heathen’ might be known for his highlight-reel knockouts and exciting fights, but the 35-year-old is without a win in his last five UFC appearances and weigh-in shoved his way into a cancelled bout vs. Drakkar Klose. With Gamrot hoping to make a highlight out of Stephens, he plans to prove his doubters wrong and get back in the mix at 145-pounds.

“I’m going to f—king prove you wrong and I’m going to do it very nasty-like with a highlight reel KO with a shin upside your head, a knee upside your head, an uppercut from hell,” Stephens said. “Then, boom, everybody’s talking about, ‘Oh man. He’s back in the mix, back in the mix.’”
