“I had stress fractures in my leg going into that cage”.
Conor McGregor had ‘stress fractures’ in the same leg he broke in his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, the former two-division champion revealed in a recent Instagram video.
McGregor, who underwent an intensive 3.5 surgery in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, claims UFC president Dana White and other members of staff were aware that he went into the fight injured and that his leg was compromised.
Just ask them, ‘The Notorious’ urged his fans via Instagram.
“I was injured going into the fight,” McGregor, who was seen riding a mobility scooter on the streets of Los Angeles, said. “People were asking me, ‘when was the leg broke? At what point did the leg break?’ Ask Dana White, ask the UFC, ask Dr. Davidson, the head doctor of the UFC. I had stress fractures in my leg going into that cage”.
“I had multiple stress fractures in the shin bone above the ankle,” he added. “And then I have trouble with the ankle anyway throughout the years of fighting all the time”.
Despite suffering such a devastating, career-threatening injury and having the bone in his left leg replaced with a ‘titanium iron rod’, McGregor seems to be in good spirits and is confident about his recovery.
“You can’t beat the Irish,” the Dubliner said as he scooted off into the sun.
