I guess that Brandon Moreno title fight doesn’t make sense after all.
Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will make his 125-pound debut against No. 7-ranked flyweight contender Kai Kara-France at the promotion’s upcoming fight card on Dec. 11 at a location to be determined.
That’s according to ESPN.
Garbrandt (12-4) is in desperate need of a change in scenery. In addition to recurring injuries and illness, “No Love” dropped four of his last five in the bantamweight division, including last May’s unanimous decision loss to streaking contender Rob Font.
“Don’t worry Suga I’ll be back after I grab this strap,” Garbrandt told bantamweight rival Sean O’Malley. “Maybe you’ll be in the top 15 by then?”
“No Love” may be putting the cart before the proverbial horse.
France (22-9, 1 NC) first tried to fight his way into UFC as a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 24 but was bounced in the second round by Alexandre Pantoja. The resilient Kiwi would finally get the call in late 2018 and has a 5-2 record to show for it.
No other bouts have been announced for the Dec. 11 fight card but you can expect that to change sooner, rather than later.
