It appears as if Strikeforce officials are aiming for Aug. 12 as the next date for the promotion’s latest Challengers series event, Strikeforce Challengers 18.
The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada serves as the venue for the event, which was made the official home of all Challengers shows after Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker made the announcement prior to UFC 130.
“The Palms wanted to have more fights,” Coker said. “They’re getting them. It sounds like a win-win relationship. We’re going to go there and make it our home.”
News of the latest Strikeforce Challengers show comes via MMAjunkie.com who confirmed the booking on Wednesday, noting that the Nevada State Athletic Commission has received a license from the promotion for the event.
The Strikeforce Challengers series serves as a platform for the mma promotion to showcase it’s latest up and coming fighters. Events currently air on Showtime.
The next Challengers show, Strikeforce Challengers 16: Fodor vs. Terry is the last in the series to take place outside of Las Vegas and is set to go down on June 24 at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington. The first Pearl at the Palms event, Strikeforce Challengers 17: Bowling vs. Voelker III , will take place on July 22 at the Las Vegas venue.
