Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz continue to beef online about a possible bout.
Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz have been going back on forth on social media lately. The latest exchanges started when Poirier sent a tweet saying ‘Nathan?’ out into the universe. He was quickly met with a response from Diaz that expressed his desire for a fight.
Since then, Diaz has gotten back on the Twitter machine and alleged that Poirier has backed out of a potential match-up. “That’s 2-0,” claimed Diaz who is claiming a win off of Poirier pulling out of a fight in 2018 over a hip injury.

Diaz then tweeted a demand for Poirier to “boss the fuck up” and agree to a fight. It didn’t take long for ‘Diamond’ to fire back. He told Diaz “They’re lying and you’re getting played”, suggesting that the UFC brass might be telling Diaz some fibs, perhaps as a negotiation tactic.

The volleys between Diaz and Poirier eventually drew the attention of a man they have a combined record of 3-2 against, Conor McGregor. The Irishman, who is currently recovering from a broken leg suffered in his latest clash with Poirier, told Diaz he was “entertained” by the spat.

After Poirier beat McGregor twice this year it seemed as though he would be given the first crack at current UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. However, Poirier seems more interested in taking on Diaz, an opponent he’s talked about on numerous occasions.
In addition to taking his series with McGregor to 2-1, Poirier’s recent accomplishments in the Octagon are among the most impressive in the company. Since 2017 he’s defeated five current or former UFC champions including Anthony Pettis, Eddie Alvarez, Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje (interim). His only loss over that span was to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Diaz’s recent form hasn’t been as impressive. He’s fought just three times since his 1-1 series with McGregor in 2016. He’s 1-2 in those bouts with a win over Anthony Pettis and losses to Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards.
