Cat Zingano had a choice to make: accept a fight for UFC or star in the “Bruised” movie for director Halle Berry.
“Alpha” opted for the latter and turned down the booking, which led to her UFC release. But not being signed to the wold’s preeminent MMA organization made Zingano less attractive to the studio, which ultimately passed on her participation.
As the Grail Knight would say: She chose … poorly.
Zingano, however, insists her choices were made based on promises from Berry, who not only reneged on her initial commitment but then also severed all communication. And now “Alpha” wants the courts to award her unspecified damages, according to TMZ.
“I didn’t want to take the ultimatum this time,” Zingano told ESPN in Aug. 2019. “So I guess you can say it was mutual. I had a project that was very, very important to me, and to the MMA community and fans, and I needed to put me, my son, my training and that first before I had anything to give to the UFC.”
Zingano, 39, went 3-4 in seven fights for UFC and dropped four of her last five.
Despite her struggles inside the Octagon, Zingano inked a multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA just two months after parting ways with UFC. To date, “Alpha” is 2-0 for Scott Coker and Co. and currently in talks for a Cris Cyborg title fight.
Which could make “damages” hard to prove in a court of law.
