Longtime UFC veteran Nate Diaz is expected to make his Octagon return in December to defend his current welterweight losing streak.

That might sound like a strange career goal, particularly with how the promotion structures its win bonuses, but Diaz told his Instagram followers he was “Defending in December.” I’m not sure what else he could possibly defend except back-to-back losses.

A report from MMA Fighting corroborates the Stockton slapper’s December timeline and suggests “several high-profile options” are available, which is sure to resuscitate some of those Dustin Poirier rumors — even with “The Diamond” crying “Wolf Tickets.”

Diaz, who turned 36 back in April, has only competed three times over the last five years. After scoring a unanimous decision victory over the since-departed Anthony Pettis, the former TUF 5 champ was defeated by Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards.

With a record of 20-13, Diaz is currently unranked at 170 pounds.
