Conor McGregor gives a promising update on his recovery.

Conor McGregor might have suffered a career-threatening injury after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, but ‘The Notorious’ is now well on the mend, per a recent fan Q&A on Instagram Live.

That’s according to a recent trip to the hospital where McGregor underwent an MRI scan for his leg. The former UFC two-division champion revealed that he is ‘well ahead of schedule’ and is already back exercising on the bike.

“Scan went well,” McGregor said on Instagram Live after exiting a doctor’s appointment (h/t MMAJunkie). “Scan went very well. To be back on the bike, I’m back on the bike before he said I was going to be able to bear weight. I’m rocking (and) well ahead of schedule. Let’s keep it going. … It was good news. Good news at the doc’s.”

McGregor insists that he is still untouchable and that his career is just getting started despite growing concerns about his future in the UFC.

“I think this bone is back together, to be honest,” he said. “The ankle is feeling great. … I’ve got me flip-flops on, I have. I’m out of the boot. I’ve got the flip-flops on, so that’s a good sign. … I’m still jacked as well, bro. It ain’t over. We’re only warming up. Still fresh. Still untouched. You still can’t get me.”

McGregor is confident about his recovery but is strictly following the doctor’s orders and ‘being careful’ not to overexert himself.

“I’m being careful with it,” the Irishman said. “I’m listening to what the doctors are saying. Everything else, I can’t physically do, I’m not pushing it too far after seeing what happened to Weidman recently. It’s in the back of my head that I go in there and maybe they say, ‘Oh, it’s not connected again. You have to go through this again.’ Look what happened to Weidman. I don’t think that’s the case with me. I know that’s not the case with me. I am a little bit nervous.”

McGregor is expected to return to the UFC by mid-2022 at the earliest. He previously suffered a torn ACL in a featherweight bout against Max Holloway in 2013 but recovered much sooner than expected. McGregor is currently #9 in the UFC lightweight rankings despite not winning a fight at 155 pounds in almost five years. He is 1-3 in his last four fights but, to his credit, has only ever lost to the divisional elite.
