Jake Paul has a message for MMA fighters who want a piece of him as he names his next intended opponent.
If being a mainstream name in combat sports was his ultimate goal, then Jake Paul has definitely done well for himself. As he told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour on Monday, all the attention is making him feel like a “sexy girl” for having “grown men throw themselves” at him.
The most recent fighter to call out “The Problem Child” was former UFC champion Vitor Belfort, who claims to have been proposed a $30 million winner-take-all offer by Triller.
In the middle of the said MMA Hour interview with Paul, Belfort apparently sent out this text message, pushing for the fight to happen.
Tell my son to don’t run away, to meet his big daddy. There’s no way out. I got $30 million, winner-take-all.
The 24-year-old Paul was of course receptive to the challenge. But he also took this time to put the MMA community on blast, particularly those whom he feels are dismissive of him.
“Cool. Put it in the escrow. No problem,” Paul casually said. “Let’s see the proof of funds in escrow and… the notion that these MMA fighters think that I’m scared of them is just funny. Or that I’m running away… Guys, I have fought four times in the past two years. You can’t really even fight more than that if you’re doing big fights.
“I’m going back-to-back-to-back on these bitch ass MMA fighters. Line them up, I will take all of them down. You guys cannot box. I outboxed a five-time UFC f—ng champion. Vitor Belfort didn’t even get close to winning that many championships. You guys cannot box for shit. There was not one moment in the fight where Tyron was outboxing me. Not one.
“I just took out one of your best fighters, Hall-of-Fame of all-time, and shit all over him. On a bad night with a hyperextended elbow. So f—k all of you.”
Now with a 4-0 pro record, Paul’s confidence is expectedly riding high. For his next fight, he’s now looking for the “toughest challenge” against the “toughest guy.”
“Honestly, just from a personal standpoint, I would love for it to be Masvidal,” he said. “Just ‘cause of the shit talk, just ‘cause of his name, just ‘cause he’s still in his prime era. And there’s a lot of personal beef there. I just took out his boy Tyron.
“Hopefully, Dana would let him out of his contract, but we’re not sure if that can happen. But for me, personally, that would be the toughest challenge, the toughest guy, and the biggest name. The most relevant, currently. So I think that’s the one to make, and I think it will happen at some point, regardless, but that’s the top of my list, for sure.
“His dad Dana White just has to let him. And that’s what it comes down to.”
Masvidal sees the possibility of White signing off on the said fight and give him the chance to “put a hurting” on the Paul brothers. The 36-year-old welterweight signed a new multi-fight contract last July, a deal he was very satisfied with.
