Four other fighters were also drug tested on fight night.
Jake Paul, Tyron Woodley and four other fighters were indeed drug tested on fight night, and the results have come in. All tests have come back negative.
Damon Martin of MMA Fighting received confirmation of the results from Ohio Athletic Commission executive director Bernie Profato on Tuesday.
Tested alongside Paul and Woodley were Amanda Serrano, Yamileth Mercado, Charles Conwell and Juan Carlos Rubio, who were required to submit drug tests because they competed in championship fights. Serrano retained her WBC, WBO, and IBO female featherweight championships against Mercado by way of unanimous decision. Conwell kept his undefeated record intact and finished Rubio by way of third-round technical knockout.
There was some confusion regarding Paul and Woodley being drug tested on fight night. The YouTuber turned undefeated professional boxer stated that he would be, but initial reporting from Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie revealed otherwise. The commission corrected that after an apparent issue with the amount of available test kits was resolved, and the fighters were subsequently drug tested.
Paul was accused of taking performance-enhancing drugs by Woodley and other prominent figures in mixed martial arts like Tristar Gym head coach Firas Zahabi. The ‘Problem Child’ denied these accusations and chided Woodley for “building an excuse” ahead of the fight. He also responded to Zahabi by saying he had to google what performing-enhancing drugs were after being made aware of the comments.
Paul went on to defeat Woodley by way of split decision and improved his overall record to 4-0. A rematch with Woodley was briefly considered, but Paul has since moved on from that because a tattoo bet was not fulfilled. He has now shifted his attention to a ‘real boxer’ in Tommy Fury for his next appearance in a boxing ring, which could come as soon as next year.
