Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski was featured prominently in Episode 1 of the UFC 266 “Embedded” video blog, detailing final preparations ahead of his Brian Ortega title defense this Sat. night (Sept. 25, 2021) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Volkanovski previously spent several weeks in “Sin City” coaching against Ortega for the most recent season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and got to learn more about his 145-pound rival. Unfortunately for “T-City,” no stranger to controversy, the champ’s assessment painted a less than flattering picture.
“Obviously when you’re spending so much time with someone, against someone that you’re gonna compete with, certain things are probably gonna … I wouldn’t say get under your skin, but annoy you,” Volkanovski said. “What I first thought of the bloke, that’s completely changed. Do I think he’s the worst human being? Probably not. But do I think he’s a sensitive little pansy? Yeah I do, that’s what I think of him. I’ll fix him up.”
Also getting some airtime in the first episode of “Embedded” is UFC 266 co-headliner Valentina Shevchenko, who defends her 125 pound strap against streaking division bruiser Lauren Murphy. “Bullet” was in the gym sharpening her skills opposite men’s flyweight titleholder Brandon Moreno, who was all praise for the women’s champ.
