‘The Mountain’ is eager to get back in the ring.
One of the many celebrities looking to cash in on the circus fight trend is Icelandic strongman, powerlifter and actor Thor Bjornsson. The 6’9” Bjornsson, best known for playing The Mountain in HBO’s Game of Thrones, was triumphant this past weekend with a TKO over arm wrestling GOAT Devon Larratt.
The win over Larratt took Bjornsson’s exhibition boxing record to 1-0-2. Originally Bjornsson was supposed to fight fellow strongman Eddie Hall. However, Hall blew out a bicep in the lead up to the fight, which lead to Larratt being drafted in on short notice.
After beating Larratt in the first round, Bjornsson called out Hall.
“You guys know who I want to fight,” he said in the ring (ht MMA Mania). “You guys know. Who is it?”
After the crowd responded with chants of “Eddie”, referring to Hall, Bjornsson confirmed that that’s the man he wants to fight.
“Yeah, I know he’s at home chilling in the sofa with his popcorn and cola,” Bjornsson added. “Enjoy your life buddy, I’m going to knock you out soon.”
Hall is reportedly interested in rescheduling his fight with the Icelander.
“Me and my coach have worked out his movements, seen his footwork, seen his punches and we’ve worked a game plan on what we’ve seen,” Hall said to Yahoo! Sports. “He has seen absolutely zero, I haven’t given him anything to work off. Little bits of pad work, a few drills here and there, but he’s not seen me spar one little bit, so he doesn’t have a clue what’s coming.”
Bjornsson vs. Hall is rumoured to be targeted for March 2022. Fun.
