Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White bailed on the UFC 266 post-fight press conference last Sat. night (Sept. 25, 2021) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is a shame when you consider how many talking points emerged from the “Volkanovski vs. Ortega” pay-per-view (PPV) card.
Word ‘round the proverbial campfire is that White was not interested in answering 7,532 questions about former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and his most recent arrest in “Sin City.” Or maybe White was too busy battling boxing big mouth Oscar De La Hoya over the state of UFC fighter pay.
“Hey Alex Volkanovski you just won a brutal battle for UFC and made 1/20 of what you’re worth,” the Olympic “Golden Boy” wrote. ”Dana White have some fucking respect for yourself and these fighters and pay these warriors what they deserve.”
This isn’t the first time De La Hoya has slammed White and Co. over the state of fighter pay, nor is it the first time White referred to De La Hoya as a “crackhead.” Unfortunately for “The Golden Boy,” his attempt to revolutionize modern MMA under his own banner failed spectacularly, thanks in part to this ugly spectacle.
“STFU U crackhead,” White fired back. “Faking that u had Covid and robbing me of watching u get KTFO by Vitor Belfort. You should win an academy award for your hospital performance.”
De La Hoya was supposed to box Vitor Belfort under the Triller banner but was struck down by COVID and forced to withdraw. That said, White isn’t the only insider accusing “The Golden Boy” of faking an illness to escape the wrath of “The Phenom,” who went on to batter the reanimated corpse of Evander Holyfield.
Perhaps it’s finally time to make good on this offer?
