Alexander Volkanovski just can’t take Henry Cejudo seriously.
Alexander Volkanovski was called out by Henry Cejudo following his decision victory over Brian Ortega at UFC 266 last weekend, but ‘The Average’ ‘The Great’ can’t take ‘Triple C’ seriously — not when he’s calling out everyone from Jake Paul to Amanda Nunes.

“I’m gonna take Alexander the Average’s soul,” Cejudo Tweeted following the UFC 266 main event.
“He’s always chirping,” Volkanovski responded (h/t MMA Fighting). “He’s chirping about everyone. Obviously we’ll see what they do, but my bet on it’s not going to happen. I don’t even think Dana White answers his calls. That’s why he’s going to go and just keep calling people out, but nothing’s ever on paper, because I don’t think they take him serious.
“Of course he doesn’t deserve it,” Volkanovski said later. “I respect him, and he’s done great things in his divisions, but this is featherweight, a whole different killer fish, especially with him being a flyweight. We’ve got a bunch of killers, and why should he just step in front of them? That wouldn’t be fair.”
If Cejudo was actually serious about the matchup, however, Volkanovski would consider accepting it purely because he wants to stay active. But it would have to happen soon.
“Purely because I want to fight regularly, and I don’t want to wait so long,” the reigning UFC featherweight champion said. “If there was ever a chance, it would probably be soon.”
Cejudo retired following his bantamweight title defense against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249, which saw ‘The Messenger’ finish ‘The Dominator’ via second-round TKO. He was formerly considered one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the world, with notable victories over Cruz, Demetrious Johnson, and T.J. Dillashaw.
