A gash like the one Mousah has is going to need more than a band-aid. 

Kane Mousah joined an exclusive club on Friday night. Only the crème de la crème of fighters are allowed into this club and the Bellator lightweight was a welcome addition following his fight against Davy Gallon at Bellator 267 in London.

The question on your mind is probably, ‘Well, what did Mousah do to join such an exclusive club?’ The answer is simple. You see, all Mousah had to do was suffer one of the worst cuts in mixed martial arts history. It may seem hyperbolic to bestow him with such a distinction, but it is definitely warranted in this case. I usually rate cuts on a scale from one to Marvin Eastman, and this one on Mousah is a solid eight.

Mousah returned to the Bellator cage and met Gallon on the preliminary portion of the event, where both men put on quite the show for three rounds. Each fighter had their moments, however, one of the most significant ones happened in the final ten seconds of the opening round. Gallon stepped in with an elbow that landed flush on the forehead of Mousah before tying him up and throwing him to the ground just as the horn signifying the end of the round sounded.

Mousah got up, and there it was. A gash right above his eye and it was bad (seen pictured below). Again, you’ve been warned it’s graphic.

Actually, it was dangerously close to fight-ending territory and I can only guess that most cageside physicians would have told the referee to stop the action. That scenario did not play out and Mousah, with the help of globs of vaseline and a damn good cutman, fought on. He was ultimately defeated by Gallon via unanimous decision, which Mousah visibly disagreed with upon hearing the judges’ scorecards.

Mousah took to social media following the fight and showed off his new stitches. He did not reveal how many he received, but it looked like only a few were necessary to close up the gnarly gash.
