“They bring a bunch of bartenders from inside, and it’s like nine people, and they surround me. So nine guys are around me, and I’m on a leg brace. I just had surgery. I’m not allowed to turn my leg, so I can’t box. So then they all start circle me.” —Dillon Danis

Remember the hero bouncer who subbed Dillon Danis?

According to the Bellator MMA welterweight, who overstayed his 15 minutes of fame as Conor McGregor’s jiu-jitsu coach, the Jersey Shore security guard gained the upper hand by “impersonating an officer,” forcing Danis to yield after a brief scuffle outside the Beachcomber Bar and Grill.

“I’m not going to fight a cop, I’m not stupid,” Danis told The MMA Hour on Monday. “He’s in trouble for impersonating an officer, there’s a whole thing that’s going to court. It will get taken care of. All the cops were on my side, to be honest. They put me in for like 20 minutes and then the cop drove us to another party.”

Danis was in town for a wedding and barely able to walk under his own power after having reconstructive knee surgery earlier this year. His boardwalk scuffle led to an eventual arrest for disorderly conduct, but Danis claims his case is currently under review.

“These guys were so egotistical, they’re just trying to fight me,” Danis continued. “I’m just like, ‘No one touch me and we don’t have a problem.’ This one guy keeps tapping me on my head and is like, ‘What happens if I do touch you?’ I was like, ‘This fucking guy, bro.’ I was like, ‘Bro, stop. I’m just trying to have fun, please don’t do that.’ He goes, ‘Okay, I’m going to do it again.’ He starts tapping me on the forehead. So then, a fight ensued.”

Danis, 28, has not competed since June 2019.
