The main event for this fight night will occur in the heavyweight division when the #3 rated, Derrick Lewis, tangles with the #7 rated, Chris Daukaus. Lewis is looking to rebound after coming up short in his interim title fight with Ciryl Gane, and Daukaus is on a five-fight finishing streak. The co-main event of the night will happen between ranked welterweights. We’ve got the #5 ranked, Stephen Thompson, tussling with the #10 ranked, Belal Muhammad. Thompson has won two of his last three, and Belal is unbeaten in his last six outings.
This will be an ESPN+ show but will be kicking off a little earlier than usual. The seven-fight preliminary card is scheduled to start at 4pm ET/1pm PT on ESPN+. The six-fight main card is also on ESPN+, and that is supposed to start at 7pm ET/4pm PT. For the areas outside of the United States, you can catch all the scheduled contests on UFC Fight Pass.

An accidental cup shot from Simon pauses the match before it even really starts. The fight quickly resumes. Leg kick for Assuncao. Jab for Assuncao. Body kick attempt for Simon, and another leg kick for Assuncao. Left hand for Simon, then a head kick attempt. Jab misses for Assuncao, and a head kick misses for Simon. Jab to double leg for Simon gets Assuncao down. Assuncao has butterfly guard and an overhook. Simon postures up and lands a couple of punches. Assuncao puts his back to the cage to get up. Simon goes right back to the takedown. He lifts up Assuncao and carries him to his corner to slam him. Assuncao sits up with his back to the cage. Simon lands an elbow and pulls him off the fence. Another elbow for Ricky scores. Assuncao gains his full guard, but just for a second. Simon is in half guard. Small body punches connect for Simon. Assuncao is holding on now. Simon posters up again and drops some strikes before the bell.

Liver kick lands for Assuncao. Simon returns a body kick. A leg kick scores for Ricky, and then a right hand. Ricky closes the distance but Assuncao uses his footwork to circle out. Simon throws out a head kick. A lead uppercut misses for Assuncao, then a right and left hand combo whiffs. Simon is feinting and backing up Assuncao. He paws the jab and bring a BIG RIGHT HAND! Assuncao drops! A big uppercut hit the mark and the referee is stopping it! What a finish!

Diego Ferreira vs. Mateusz Gamrot : Lightweight

Jab from Gamrot as he pressures. They exchange in the pocket. Ferreira throws out a front kick and then goes to the leg. Back to the head, and Gamrot returns one of his own upstairs. Ferreira leaps in with a cross, and then eats a body kick. Gamrot lands another body kick. Gamrot shoots in but allows Ferreira back up. Calf kick for Ferreira. a two-piece misses for Ferreira. Gamrot connects with a straight. Another calf kick for Ferreira, and Gamrot shoots and gets Ferreira down. A set of punches land for Gamrot but Ferreira is back up. They paw jabs back and forth. A front kick misses for Ferreira, and then they exchange body kicks. They both land right hands. Ferreira catches a kick and they exchange punches as Gamrot is on one leg. Gamrot gets through with a two-piece. A beautiful double leg is hit by Gamrot, followed by some ground strikes. Ferreira is back up and misses a leg kick. They bite down and exchange in the pocket before the bell.

Left hook for Gamrot and a body kick for Ferreira score. Big right for Gamrot gets through, and Ferreira returns a right hand of his own. Gamrot shoots in but Ferreira is having none of it. Ferreira connects with a left. Gamrot shoots in again and a crazy scramble breaks out. Gamrot is on top. He punches Ferreira in the face as he stands up. A 1-2 lands for Ferreira. Gamrot throws his jab as Ferreira advances behind his right hand. Another jab for Gamrot. A big 1-2 misses for Ferreira, and another misses. A cross to double leg sits down Ferreira, but he’s right back up. A jab-cross for Ferreira lands. Gamrot with another takedown. He has Ferreira up against the cage on one knee. A set of knees to the body land for Gamrot, and now Ferreira is saying something to the referee. Gamrot jumps on a rear-naked choke, but the ref is stopping the fight. Ferreira seems injured in some way.

Darren Elkins vs. Cub Swanson : Featherweight

Jab from Swanson, and then another. A 1-2 from Elkins. Swanson connects with a jab but misses with a hook. A big overhand right scores for Elkins. Cub lands a jab but Elkins lands a cross. Elkins shoots in but nothing doing. A cross hook from Swanson gets through. A big right from Swanson DROPS Elkins, but he’s back up. Elkins tries a set of right hands. A big left, right, left from Cub drops Elkins again. Darren stands up just to eat two left hooks. Cub barely lands with a wheel kick. Darren is dazed. Another left for Cub lands and the referee steps in. WOWSERS!
