Jorge Masvidal has been caught up in the ongoing war of words between UFC president Dana White and YouTube superstar turned pro boxer, Jake Paul.

‘The Problem Child’ called out a bunch of UFC fighters including Masvidal after knocking out Tyron Woodley on December 18.

On New Year’s Day, Paul zeroed in on ‘Gamebred’ when extending an offer to White that could see him join the UFC.

“Happy new year @danawhite,” Paul wrote on social media. “Here is a real challenge for you… I will immediately retire from boxing and fight Jorge Masvidal in the UFC if you agree to:

During his rebuttal, the UFC boss brought up Paul’s dwindling pay-per-view numbers and suggested the reason he is so keen to fight Masvidal is because “he’s a pay-per-view superstar.”

“You’re tanking. You can’t sell pay-per-views. You’re calling out Jorge Masvidal because he’s a pay-per-view superstar. Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor, Mike Tyson – these are all superstars. You’re not. You can’t sell pay-per-views. So you do whatever the hell you want to do. I’m ready to roll, buddy. I don’t use cocaine. Do you use steroids? Let’s do this Jake.”

Jorge Masvidal Has Been Waiting A Long Time For His Due Credit

The BMF titleholder was glad to hear White speak so highly of him but couldn’t resist taking a cheeky swipe at the UFC president in response.

“Thank you to my employer for recognizing my hard work,” Masvidal wrote on Twitter. “Only took you 4 years #superneccesary.”

‘Street Jesus’ is currently riding a two-fight losing streak after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of the welterweight king, Kamaru Usman. The duo first met at UFC 251 in July 2020, Masvidal was dominated for five rounds after accepting a short-notice fight with ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. Masvidal got a full camp for his UFC 261 rematch with Usman but was knocked out cold inside two rounds and hasn’t competed inside the Octagon since.

Do you think Jorge Masvidal has been underappreciated by the UFC brass?
