Dustin Poirier has taken to social media to confirm he will honor the $20,000 pledge he made to Charles Oliveira in the aftermath of UFC 269.

‘The Diamond’ was beaten inside three rounds by Oliveira on December 11 but remained charitable in the Octagon as offered to make a donation that would help out people in Brazil.

At the UFC 269 post-fight press conference, Poirier explained what compelled him to offer a large sum of money to the man who had just stopped him from fulfilling a lifelong dream.

“I saw a video of him showing where he grew up and where his mom cooked dinner for him,” Poirier said. “I don’t know if it was an old video and saw some of the sights of where he grew up and just how little they had and it came to me this week, I thought I was going to let him know, win, lose or draw, talk to him after that me and the good fight foundation would donate $20,000 to his city in Brazil and put the money wherever they think it needs to be.”

Charles Oliveira Casts Doubt On Dustin Poirier’s Donation

During a recent interview with Sherdog, ‘Do Bronx’ confirmed that Poirier is yet to deliver the $20,000, and the whole Octagon donation has become a bit of a headache.

“I just tell people that the money didn’t arrive yet, but if Dustin really wants to make a donation and needs those bureaucracy documents, I´ll pick some local social project in my area. The most important thing is helping people who need to be helped, but to tell you the truth, after all the headaches I´ve been dealing with due to that Octagon proposal, I really don’t know if it was good or not.”

After the above quotes started to circulate online, fans began to ask Poirier if he will honor the financial pledge he made at UFC 269.

The former interim lightweight champion took to Twitter to clear things up, he wrote.

“For anyone asking about the $20k donation I promised, of course I’m going to honor it! We have been in contact with Charles and his team. We are waiting for them to figure out what project they want it donated to.”
