The official UFC rankings underweight a major facelift after the UFC 271 pay-per-view (PPV) event last Sat. night (Feb. 12, 2022) inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, which produced big victories for Israel Adesanya, Tai Tuivasa, and Jared Cannonier, among others.

“The Last Stylebender” retained his middleweight strap by turning away former champion Robert Whittaker, improving his position on the promotion’s pound-for-pound chart at No. 2. As for “Bam Bam,” he’s now ranked No. 3 in the world at 265 pounds after stopping Derrick Lewis.

“The Killa Gorilla” smashed Derek Brunson to capture the No. 2 spot at middleweight and is likely to secure the next crack at the 185-pound crown. Elsewhere on the charts, Casey O’Neill rose three places to No. 12 by defeating flyweight veteran Roxanne Modafferi.

Here’s how UFC compiles its official rankings:

Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

Take a look at what the latest rankings field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, T = tie, *NR = Not previously ranked).
