It looks as if ‘The Dean of Mean’ Keith Jardine (17-9-2) is prepared to remake himself as a middleweight, telling the World that he’s set to return in December at 185 lbs for Strikeforce.
Jardine posted the message on his website (@KeithJardine.net) recently, noting that he’s not sure who he’ll fight but he’s brought on diet guru Mike Dulce to help him get down to middleweight.
– Just got off the phone with nutritionist Mike Dulce. I’m pumped. My December fight will be at 185. Not sure who yet. Thanks everyone
The now former light heavyweight, made his Strikeforce debut in April of this year, replacing Mike Kyle on a weeks notice against Gegard Mousasi at the Diaz vs. Daley event. ‘The Dean of Mean’ was already in the process of shedding pounds for a move to middleweight, but couldn’t pass the opportunity to get back onto the big stage.
The bout would end up with a majority draw after Mousasi had a point deducted for an illegal upkick. A rematch was given talked about but Jardine was set on moving to 185 lbs.
Jardine is currently 2-5-1 in his last eight fights, losing the five straight (four) in the UFC and once with the Shark Fights promotion. He ended that skid with wins at a Nemesis Fighting event and a Double Threat show in the past yea before signing with Strikeforce.
