Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to its APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the UFC Vegas 64 mixed martial arts (MMA) event TONIGHT (Sat., Nov. 5, 2022), streaming LIVE on ESPN+. UFC Vegas 64 will be headlined by the 115-pound showdown between Top 10-ranked strawweight contenders Marina Rodriguez and Amanda Lemos. Before that five-round clash of styles gets underway, veteran welterweight Neil Magny looks to bounce back into the win column by turning away streaking 170-pound up-and-comer Daniel Rodriguez in UFC Vegas 64’s co-main event. Elsewhere on the card, Nate Maness and Tagir Ulanbekov go to war at flyweight shortly before Josh Parisian and Chase Sherman collide at 265 pounds.

115 lbs.: Amanda Lemos vs. Marina Rodriguez

Round 1: Lemos slowly advancing. Tentative start. One minute in. Both fall short with big swings. Good jab and low kick from Lemos, who eats a cut kick in return. Counter 1-2. Two minutes in. Rodriguez circling, eats a leg kick and comes back with her own. Lemos knee. Two minutes to go.

Good body kick from Lemos. Very limited output so far. Lemos tries a wheel kick. One minute to go. Lemos tries a two-piece, Rodriguez tries a flying knee. Lemos takedown attempt ends with her on the bottom, and Rodriguez lands some solid shots before the bell. 10-9 Lemos.

Round 2: Lemos back on the advance. Both miss jabs. Nasty counter right lands for Lemos. One minute in. Rodriguez misses with a 1-2. Head kick misses. Lemos ties up after avoiding a right hand. Knees downstairs, then a trip to take Rodriguez’s back. Hunting the RNC. Rodriguez manages to turn into half guard Two minutes to go.

Heavy pressure from Lemos. One minute to go. Lemos gets a brief opening to drop punches. 10-9 Lemos.

Round 3: 1-2 lands for Rodriguez after Lemos tries to start aggressively. Cross counter by Lemos. Another big right hand by Lemos rattles Rodriguez, who backs to the fence and shells up. Lemos continues to punch until the ref intervenes, much to Rodriguez’s fury.

Final result: Lemos def. Rodriguez by TKO (punches)


170 lbs.: Neil Magny vs. Daniel Rodriguez

Round 1: Rodriguez digs a lead left to the body. Inside low kick. Magny looks to back him up with kicks, can’t tie up. Trading leg kicks. Rodriguez backs him up with left hands. Good body work. Lead rights from Magny. Rodriguez catches a kick and puts him on the fence. Jockeying for position. They separate. Rodriguez ducks another right hand and ties up, but gets hauled to the fence two minutes in. Separation. Rodriguez continuing to stay active, neither landing super clean. Counter 1-2 from Magny. He loses his mouthpiece for a moment. Rodriguez falls short with a left with two minutes to go.

Rodriguez punches his way into the clinch. Knees from Magny, who spins to the body lock and throws Rodriguez to the mat. One hook in. Dropping punches with a minute to go. Rodriguez works his way up, then chases Magny with some clean shots. 10-9 Magny.

Round 2: Rodriguez body shot, Magny head kick. Trading low kicks. Rodriguez backs him to the fence and splits the guard with a straight left. Low-high left straights a minute in. Magny lands a cross, gets knocked back by a 1-2. Nice blitz from Magny into the clinch. They separate. Stiff jab by Rodriguez, front kick from Magny in return two minutes in. Rodriguez looks for the body, pops him with a jab. Stretch of neither landing clean. Magny lands a front kick downstairs. Two minutes to go.

Magny with a four-piece blitz. Stiff jab by Rodriguez again. Jab into the clinch. They separate with just over a minute to go. Good right hand by Magny into the clinch, where he lands a knee and left hand on the break. Counter left by Rodriguez, then a heavier one as a lead. Jab lands, looping left falls short. Magny ties up and looks for the back. 10-9 Rodriguez.

Round 3: They meet in the center and start throwing volume. Magny trying to take the initiative. Rodriguez lands a hard three-piece, then another left as Magny tries to straighten up that prompts the latter to pull guard. One minute in. Rodriguez lands some hammerfists, then stands and lets Magny up. Magny immediately punches his way into the clinch and drags him down, getting back to the same one-hook position against the fence he had in round one. Two minutes in. Full mount for Magny. Rodriguez tries to stand and gets slammed back down, allowing Magny to put in both hooks. Rodriguez slips out the back and gets caught in a front headlock with two minutes to go.

Magny wrenches him down with a Japanese necktie, then transition to a d’arce to force the tap.

Final result: Magny def. Rodriguez by submission (d’arce choke)


145 lbs.: Darrick Minner vs. Shayilan Nuerdanbieke

Round 1: Low kicks from Minner to start. Nuerdanbieke tries a combo. The next time Minner throws a kick, he stumbles back, clearly injured. Flying knee from Nuerdanbieke puts him on top and he slams home elbows until the ref intervenes.

Final result: Nuerdanbieke def. Minner by TKO (elbows)


125 lbs.: Nate Maness vs. Tagir Ulanbekov

Round 1: Ulanbekov looks for a front kick upstairs. Maness to the body. Ulanbekov shoots in and dumps him to the mat. Top guard a minute in. Ulanbekov postures, and as Maness tries to gets to his feet, Ulanbelkov wraps up an airtight guillotine. It’s an absolutely murderous squeeze and it’s not long before Maness taps.

Final result: Ulanbekov def. Maness by submission (guillotine choke)


155 lbs.: Grant Dawson vs. Mark Madsen

Round 1: Madsen hurts Dawson with a right hand inside 15 seconds, prompting a scramble. Dawson powers through and works his way onto Madsen’s back. One minute in. Full body triangle. Madsen fighting the hands. Two minutes in. Dawson still looking for the choke. Two minutes to go.

Madsen’s not getting choked but he can’t get free of Dawson. One minute to go. No change before the bell. 10-9 Dawson.

Round 2: Dawson tries a reactive single-leg, can’t get it. Low kick. Another ankle pick attempt and he hauls Madsen to the fence. Nice scramble puts Dawson back on top a minute in. Now half guard two minutes in. Dawson slowly working his way to mount, gets there. Two minutes to go.

Not much offense from Dawson, gets caught back in half guard. One minute to go. Now Dawson postures up for a bit of damage. One final burst before the bell. 10-9 Dawson.

Round 3: Hard calf kick from Dawson. Madsen avoids the next few. Dawson fires front kicks, then a spinning back kick. Another calf kick buckles Madsen and Dawson faollows with a hard cross. More calf kicks and another right hand. Madsen fires his own overhand and ducks a spinning back fist a minute in. Dawson tearing up that lead leg with impunity, then follows him down when he goes down. Dawson jams his forearm into Madsen’s throat, then takes mount. Now the back, landing punches. Rear naked choke’s in and there’s the tap.

Final result: Dawson def. Madsen by submission (rear naked choke)


125 lbs.: Miranda Maverick vs. Shanna Young

Round 1: Maverick pushing forward with left hands. Quick right from Young a minute in, then one on the counter. Maverick tries a head kick. Another clean counter right lands for Young. She’s catching Maverick with that pretty consistently. Maverick body kick. 1-2 and head kick falls short two minutes in. Another counter right for Young as Maverick tries to step in with a side kick. Quick combo from Maverick, who fakes a shot and lands an uppercut-cross. Two minutes to go.

Young tries a 1-2 and denies a reactive shot. Another 1-2 on the counter; Maverick keeps coming in in a straight line and getting caught. Now she hauls Young to the fence and takes her down via outside trip. One minute to go. Half guard for Maverick, who then steps into mount and takes the back. She drops punches until the bell. 10-9 Maverick.

Round 2: Maverick fires some volume, again runs into a counter right. Young tries a body kick and blocks a head kick. Maverick rushes, can’t corral her. One minute in. Well-timed double-leg puts Maverick back on top in half guard. Maverick piling up short right hands. Two minutes in. Now looking to take the back as Young gets to a knee. Two minutes to go.

Young slips out the back door, but in her haste to attack, she stumbles and allows Maverick to grab the front headlock. She loses it, then shoots back in. Knees with a minute to go, then a slick foot sweep into an attempted back take. She settles for mount instead and blasts Young with punches until Young gives up her back. 10-9 Maverick.

Round 3: Kickboxing exchanges to start the round. Young eats a jab, lands a 1-2. Maverick shoots, locks her hands, and wrenches her to her knees. One minute in. Maverick spends some time in top turtle, then slips in her hooks. More short punches piling up. Maverick sneaks in an elbow, goes for a banana split, then flattens Young out with two minutes to go.

Solid punches from Maverick on top. Looking for the choke again. One minute to go. More punches from Maverick. 10-8 Maverick.

Final result: Maverick def. Young by unanimous decision


135 lbs.: Mario Bautista vs. Benito Lopez

Round 1: Both men trading kicks in the early going. Solid low kicks from Bautista. Lead right connects. One minute in. Low kick and body shot land for Bautista. Two-piece blocked. Low kicks from Lopez in return. Vicious series of body shots by Bautista against the fence. Two minutes in. Another hard three-piece volley. Lopez leg kick. More body work by Bautista sets up an easy double-leg into guard. He postures up, drops punches, then moves to half guard. Again he stands to drop shots. Two minutes to go.

Hard elbow from Bautista before going back down into half guard. Looking to pass, caught in quarter guard, back to full with a minute to go. Elbow from Bautista as he re-adjusts. Back to full mount and he cranks on a straight armbar, then wraps up a reverse triangle and drops elbows. Just after the 10-second clapper, Bautista wraps up an armbar to force a frantic tap. Pure domination.

Final result: Bautista def. Lopez by submission (triangle armbar)


115 lbs.: Jinh Yu Frey vs. Polyana Viana

Round 1: Frey tries a flurry, lands a low kick. Body shot. Intercepting knee from Viana, who catches Frey coming in and freezes her in place. Viana pours on the punches until Frey goes Timber.

Final result: Viana def. Frey by TKO (punches)


135 lbs.: Johnny Munoz vs. Liudvik Sholinian

Round 1: Heavy 1-2 from Munoz. Front kick attempt. Sholinian firing the occasional jab. One minute in. Teep from Munoz. 1-2, jab. Keeping Sholinian at bay so far, lands a low kick. Brief collision two minutes in. Leg kick and jab land for Munoz, then another 1-2. Sholinian catches a kick, can’t use it. Munoz continuing to control distance, cracks him with a 1-2-1. Two minutes to go.

Sholinian loading up on his right hand, lands a glancing cross. Low and body kicks from Munoz, who has a kick caught. Straight left and jab. Four-piece combo. Heavy right cross and a jab behind it. Glancing head kick from Sholinian, who’s getting absolutely pieced up so far. One minute to go. Munoz tries a step-in knee, lands a low kick. Another right cross. Sholinian jab. Pressuring a bit more late, gets caught by a blitz. 10-9 Munoz.

Round 2: Right hands land for Sholinian early on. Good body work. Counter left, gets stung by a 1-2 and comes back with a jab. Loaded-up overhand falls short and he eats a flurry for his trouble a minute in. Munoz hunts him down with combinations and shoots. They separate. Sholinian shoots and Munoz sprawls, then looks for the back. Two minutes in. Sholinian manages to avoids it and puts him on the fence. Two minutes to go.

Sneaky knee from Munoz as he defends. Sholinian alternately raising and lowering his level. Nice back elbows. Munoz still landing as he defends, then forces Sholinian to bail with a guillotine threat. Munoz looks for the back, can’t get it, and they reset on the feet with a minute to go. Sholinian shrugs off a low blow, then another in quick succession. Good 1-2 from Munoz, then another before the bell. 10-9 Munoz.

Round 3: Quick jabs from Munoz. Sholinian misses big on another overhand right. Again, and then again. Munoz gets in deep on a takedown and weathers some elbows to take Sholinian down into guard a minute in. Sholinian manages to sweep to his feet. Still marching forward and hurling right hands, none of which are getting particularly close two minutes in. There’s a nice counter right as I say that. Munoz seems to be fading some, leaving his head up as he punches. Two minutes to go.

More whiffed overhand rights by Sholinian. Jab connects. Jabs from Munoz, right cross behind them. Oblique kick. One minute to go. Sholinian continuing to pursue, lands a lunging left. Well-timed double-leg from Munoz puts him on top. Low mount against the fence. Munoz takes the back and pounds until the bell. 10-9 Munoz.

Final result: Munoz def. Sholinian by unanimous decision


125 lbs.: Carlos Candelario vs. Jake Hadley

Round 1: Candelario tries a head kick. Both fire 1-2s. Already trading combinations. Candelario to the body a minute in. Candelario getting the better of things early. Hadley to the body. Low kick. More low kicks from Hadley. Candelario on the front foot, lands a body kick two minutes in. More low kicks from Candelario, eats a shovel hook. Hadley just misses on a level elbow. Low-high goes Candelario. Another good body kick. Constant back-and-forth. Two minutes to go.

Hadley landing 1-2s to the body, eats a body kick. More good pressure by Candelario. 3-2, avoids the counter. Hadley counter uppercut and body shot. Good left downstairs. Low kick exchange, more good body work by Hadley. Candelario digs a left downstairs. Sneaky elbow by Candelario and they trade body shots. Candelario 1-2. Low kick exchange. Good knee from Candelario, eats two hard body shots in return. Continuing to exchange. Both landing low kicks. Hadley 1-2. Close. 10-9 Hadley.

Round 2: Early body kick knocks Hadley off-balance and Candelario ties up. They separate soon after. Candelario body kick and jab downstairs. Trading jabs. More body work from Hadley. Low kicks from both. Heavy left to the body by Hadley a minute in. Candelario shoots and Hadley immediately transitions into a triangle, dropping elbows. Two minutes in. Hadley alternating between squeezing and slamming elbows into his skull. Hadley manages to underhook Candelario’s leg and get the angle to finish the submission.

Final result: Hadley def. Candelario by submission (triangle choke)


135 lbs.: Ramona Pascual vs. Tamires Vidal

Round 1: Both women heavy on the kicks early on. Hard two-piece and knee from Pascual prompt Vidal to put her on the fence a minute in. Short knees from Vidal. Jockeying for position. Two minutes in. Pascual lands an elbow on the break. Vidal low kick. Three-piece, good body kick. Vidal warned for outstretched fingers. She lands a low kick, eats a straight left. Vidal fires a knee to the head, then a jumping knee to the body that folds Pascual over for the finish.

Final result: Vidal def. Pascual by TKO (knee to the body)
