New year, new celebrity boxing card!
Despite the totally expected withdrawal of Dillon Danis from this boxing card (see it here), we’re still on top of it like a bunch of old metaphors. Professional vlogger and personality, Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji (a.k.a “KSI”) will face professional eSports gamer, Thomas Oliveira, otherwise known as “FaZe Temperrr.” Indeed, it’s MF & DAZN X Series 4, coming to you live from inside OVO Arena in London, England, starting today (Sat., Jan. 14, 2023) at 2 p.m. ET (7 p.m. GMT), streaming only on DAZN.
For many of us here on MMAMania.com, the only other recognizable bout on the card is former mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and Danis-puncher, Anthony Taylor, taking on the undefeated professional boxer, Idris Virgo. While Virgo isn’t the next Bernard Hopkins, he brings a very respectable undefeated (12-0-1) record to the table against the combined MMA and boxing record of 9-8 for Taylor (and one aforementioned “win” against combat sports’ biggest punchline).

MF & DAZN Series 4: KSI Vs FaZe Temperrr Play-By-Play Updates:
176 lbs.: KSI vs. FaZe Temperrr
Round 1: KSI in pink and white, Temper in yellow. KSI lands the first shot with a body-head combo. Temper with a right in the clinch. KSI on the front foot. Both men get in lefts. Big 3-2 from KSI and the left connects clean, PLANTING Temper! He might not get up in time. The ref is looking at his eyes and waves it off as Faze Temperrr is on wobbly legs.
Final result: KSI defeats FaZe Temperrr. KO, 2:19 of round 1
175 lbs.: Slim Albaher vs. Tom Zanetti
Round 1: Zanetti in black and gold, Albaher in white with blue and purple trim. Honestly, he looks like he got a warmup suit from the Charlotte Hornets. Stylish. Slim fighting behind a long jab to start. Zanetti hits a right out of the clinch. Slim with a big whiff. Zanetti yelling at Albaher. Nice right hand and a clipping left from Albaher backs up Zanetti. Couple of lefts, too. Slim throws pretty wide, but it’s landing on the Brit who isn’t moving his head at all. Both men land rights.
10-9 Albaher
Round 2: Right hand from Slim on the break from a brief clinch. A short brawl on the ropes. Zanetti’s footwork isn’t good. 1-2 from Albaher, and Zanetti fires a right hand back. The same thing repeats himself. Three right hands in a row. Zanetti looking haggard here as Albaher is landing repeatedly. He’s still standing and has fire in his eyes, but he’s getting cracked.
10-8 Albaher
Round 3: Tom Zanetti is eating the shots from Albaher, but Slim is feeding him like the devil fed Homer Simpson donuts. Zanetti is gassed and swinging arm punches now. He’s game, but not landing those big, wild shots. Right-left from Albaher. Right hands from both men. Slim isn’t landing huge, but he’s landing constant. Zanetti lands a good left, but it doesn’t seem to faze Albaher. Two BIG punches from Zanetti and all of a sudden, Albaher is a bit staggered. He manages to hold Zanetti off for the round.
10-9 Albaher
Round 4: Zanetti unable to find the range. Slim missing quite a bit now, too. Zanetti blocks a pair of rights. Both men connect with rights. Slim coming forward and eats two solid right hands. They’re firing at each other. Good way to end a fight full of heart.
10-9 Zanetti
Final result: Slim Albaher def. Tom Zanetti. Unanimous Decision 39-37 x2, 39-38
185 lbs.: Salt Papi vs. Josh Brueckner
Round 1: The man who I will now label as Salt is in black and blue trunks. Brueckner in teal and white. Salt actually has a background as an amateur boxer, despite looking like he rose off the couch. Salt looking to counterpunch early. Brueckner with a triple jab as he circles away from the power side. Good technical bout so far for a pair of neophytes. 1-2 from Salt and the 2 landed nicely. They exchange in the pocket and Salt gets the better of it with a couple of lefts. There’s a nice left to the body from Brueckner.
10-9 Salt Papi
Round 2: Brueckner doing a smart job as he circles away from the power and mixes up body/head. Salt lands a counter. Brueckner walks directly into a counter left that plants him on his butt – and it’s over! What a great slip and rip knockout for the young man from the Philippines.
Final result: Salt Papi def. Josh Brueckner. KO, 1:33 of round 2
168 lbs.: Mystery Opponent vs. BDave
Round 1: They’re STILL not telling us who “Krab Daddy” BDave is fighting as he walks out to the ring. Gotta love a gimmick. Speaking of, they drop the lights and play the Undertaker’s theme music from the WWF/E days. Very funny, I’ll give it that. Finally, we get the reveal and it’s Luis Alcaraz Pineda. Huge pop for Pineda.
BDave in red, Pineda in the white with green and red trim. They’re swinging big. Good combo from Pineda, and BDave also gets in a big right. Body-head-head from Pineda. BDave getting some shots in the clinch. When they’re at range, BDave isn’t showing much movement anywhere and Pineda is flurrying on him repeatedly. Pineda using his length well and going to the body and up top. Huge counter right from the Mexican.
10-9 Pineda, borderline 10-8
Round 2: Pineda doesn’t have the pep in his step that he did in the first. He’s still getting in a few long body shots. BDave still trying to get in the pocket, but unable to. There’s a couple rights from Pineda. Right hand from the clinch out of nowhere at the bell drops BDave!
10-8 Pineda
Round 3: Both men are tired here, so we’re seeing a lot of clinch work. There’s a nice right by Pineda. Slip from Pineda, no knockdown. There’s a shot to the body from BDave. BDave with a big left hook. Hell, Alcaraz just spit out his mouthpiece. There’s a bit of life from Pineda, as he lands a left-right and an uppercut a few seconds later. 25 seconds left. Pineda 1-2, and again.
10-9 Pineda in a close round that could go either way.
Final result: Luis Alcaraz Pineda def. BDave. Unanimous Decision 30-25×3
185 lbs.: Ryan Taylor vs. Swarmz
Round 1: Taylor in black and red, Swarmz in black and white. Swarmz trying to style and lands a nice jab. That hurt Taylor. Because this is the minor leagues, the ref isn’t stopping the fight, but has paused it to bring in the doctor. He’s arguing with his corner, who wants him to continue for this round, but he’s repeating that he can’t see out of that eye. That’s it.
Final result: Swarmz def. Ryan Taylor. TKO, 0:48 of round 1.
