Having put in a solid performance last Saturday night (October 8, 2011) by earning a second round knockout victory over Chris Lozano, Bellator Season Five Welterweight Tournament finalist Douglas ‘The Phenom’ Lima (20-4) faces an even tougher test when he meets Ben ‘Killa B’ Saunders in the finals.
Both fighters earned spectacular victories at Bellator 53 in Oklahoma last weekend, with Lima earning the KO and Saunders earning an impressive submission win over over an Luis Santos, a fighter with 50 career wins to his name.
Now that both fighters are on a collision course to meet for a shot at $100,000 and the Bellator title, it’s time for both men to begin their preparations.
Having watched Saunders dominate Santos after his win, Lima told Tatame.com that he won’t “fear” anything Saunders will bring into the cage with him when they finally meet.
“I know Ben is a tough athlete. He’s slim and know how to use his knees on the clinch and also has a guard that is hard to break into, but nothing to be afraid of.”
“Not only striking, but also the ground game. We’ve prepared ourselves to anything, I’m pretty confident to fight him standing up or on the ground. Nowadays we gotta be ready for everything. I really want to do a good fight. Jucão (Roan Carneiro) and my training partners are studying his game. I’ll be a lot prepared. I’ll bring this GP title home for sure”.
