Bellator MMA and RIZIN are set to link up yet again to stage another historic event TONIGHT (Sat., July 29, 2023) inside the famed Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. In the revamped headlining bout, Patricky Pitbull will be taking on RIZIN Lightweight champion, Roberto de Souza, in a non-title fight after A.J. McKee was forced out of the bout. The fight will also serve as part of the Lightweight Grand Prix. In the co-main event, Kyoji Horiguchi will battle Makoto Takahashi for the inaugural Flyweight title.

In the SUPER RIZIN 2 portion of the event, which airs at the conclusion of Bellator x RIZIN 2, Bellator’s Juan Archuleta will face Hiromasa Ougikubo for the RIZIN Bantamweight title. In a late addition, Patricio Pitbull will take on Chihiro Suzuki. Bellator x RIZIN 2 will air on SHOWTIME on Sat., July 29, 2023 starting at 11 p.m. ET, while the SUPER RIZIN 2 event will air on U-Next PPV starting at 2 a.m. ET on Sun., July 30.

Round 1: Here we go! Pitbull stalking early on. De Souza opens up with a jab. De Souza lands a low kick. One-two from Pitbull. They both swing big punches and both miss. Calf kick lands for Pitbull. De Souza shoots for the takedown but it’s stuffed. Flying knee from de Souza misses everything. Pitbull with a sloppy one-two combo. Calf kick lands for Pitbull again. De Souza looking for his range, biding his time. Pitbull tries a flying attack and is swept mid-air. Pitbull bounces back up and unleashes a flurry of strikes to end the round. 10-9 Pitbull

Round 2: Pitbull fires off the jab to start things off. De Souza pushing forward a bit more now. One-two lands for Pitbull, sends de Souza back for a second. De Souza has yet to find much offense here. Nice jab lands for de Souza. Pitbull still pushing forward. Nice jab to the body for Pitbull. Jumping knee lands for Pitbull and de Souza is hurt. Pitbull doesn’t pounce, odd. Pitbull pulls back and allows de Souza to get back up when he was obviously hurt. Pitbull goes in for the attack but the round comes to an end. 10-9 Pitbull

Round 3: They start in the center of the cage again. Pitbull lands a calf kick and then a shot to the body. De Souza whiffs on a right hand. Pitbull lands a solid calf kick that drops de Souza! Pitbull goes in for the kill this time and he gets it right away.

Final Result: Pitbull def. de Souza via third-round TKO


125 lbs.: Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Makoto Takahashi – Flyweight title fight

Round 1: High kick to start things off for Horiguchi. And the action is halted due to an early eye poke from Horiguchi. It’s been more than five minutes. Doctors are now asking Takahashi if he wants to continue. He can not and the fight is stopped. That is very, very disappointing.

Final Result: Fight ends in a No Contest (NC)


135 lbs.: Magomed Magomedov vs. Danny Sabatello

Round 1: Both men come out a bit tentative and Sabatello shoots for the takedown. Good defense from Magomedov. Sabatello picks up Magomedov and scores a huge slam to the canvas. Sabatello takes his back and is now looking for the rear-naked choke. Magomedov shakes him off his back and Sabatello once again goes in for the takedown. Stuffed. Low kick from Sabatello. Magomedov trying to work the low kicks. Sabatello shoots for a takedown and it’s stuff hard by Magomedov, who now has an anaconda choke. Sabatello is out of it, nice scrambles, as expected. Magomedov now has a guillotine. It’s tight. Magomedov forces the tap! WOW!

Final Result: Magomedov def. Sabatello via first-round submission (guillotine)


125 lbs.: Kana Watanabe vs. Veta Arteaga

Round 1: Watanabe with the clinch right away and starts unloading knees. Double jab from Watanabe. Arteaga survives the initial onslaught. Watanabe unloading some sweet combos. One-two-three, they all land. Watanabe grabs a hold of Arteaga and she takes her back. She is working a rear-naked choke. They separate. Watanabe shoots for another takedown. Arteaga stuffs but Watanabe is still trying to finish it. Tussle up against the fence. Nice hook lands for Arteaga. Watanabe lands a takedown and she takes her back. Watanabe starts unloading bombs as the round comes to an end. 10-9 Watanabe

Round 2: Watanabe takes the center of the cage right away and she shoots for another takedown. Stuffed by Arteaga. Watanabe stalking and she lands a solid right hand. Watanabe gets the takedown but Arteaga gets up quickly. Watanabe still stalking and she lands a knee to the body. Watanabe shoots, yet again, this time she gets it. Rinse and repeat. Watanabe lands a nice jab and Arteaga returns fire with the same shot. 10-9 Watanabe

Round 3: Watanabe wastes no time in shooting for a takedown and it’s stuffed. Arteaga circling a bit more now to avoid getting taken down. Arteaga lands a nice shot to the body. Watanabe gets the clinch and she lands a few uppercuts. Watanabe shoots for the ankles but Arteaga manages to stay on her feet. They clinch up against the cage. They separate. Jab to the body for Watanabe. Artega needs to pick up the pace and score a finish down 2-0. Arteaga now lands a takedown and they are in the north-south position. Arteaga starts unloading some huge bombs from the top position. Watanabe defending but Arteaga is relentless as the round comes to an end. 10-9 Arteaga

Final Result: Watanabe def. Arteaga via unanimous decision


170 lbs.: Andrey Koreshkov vs. Lorenz Larkin

Round 1: Larkin with a low kick. Koreshkov returns fire with a jab. Double jab from Koreshkov, Larkin lands a nice uppercut and he eats an overhand right for his troubles. Double pump jab from Larkin, Koreshkov evades. Koreshkov goes in for the takedown and he gets it. Larkin trying to work his way back up to his feet. Koreshkov not really advancing, content with holding him down. Surprised the referee has yet to stand them up, not a lot of action from Koreshkov. As I say that he starts driving knees to the inner thighs. Larkin simply can not get up and Koreshkov isn’t trying to do much here. Elbows to the side of the head from Larkin. Koreshkov stands up and starts unloading bombs on Larkin as the round comes to an end. 10-9 Koreshkov

Round 2: Both men come out swinging and Koreshkov whiffs on high kick. Nice body shot lands for Koreshkov. Larking trying to close the distance with his jabs. Koreshkov lands a right hook, then a shot to the liver. Larkin stalking, lands a calf kick. Koreshkov returns fire with a three-punch combo and shoots for a takedown but the fence helps Larkin here. Tussle against the cage. Koreshkov driving the knees to the thighs. Koreshkov still working for the takedown. Larkin manages to escape and they are back to the center of the cage. Koreshkov with a kick to the body, you can hear the thud. Larkin trying to press the action but Koreshkov is light on his feet. Larkin pushes Koreshkov up against the fence. 10-9 Larkin

Round 3: Larkin comes out with a jab and Koreshkov eats and lands a calf kick. Shot to the body and Koreshkov goes in and gets the takedown. Stuffed. Larking whiffs on a left hand and eats a kick to the body for his troubles. Larkin now pushing forward a bit more, urgency sensing that he is down 2-0. Koreshkov lands a take down and immediately starts trying to work some ground-and-pound from half guard. Larkin is like a fish out of water here again, can not seem to get up. Koreshkov once again content with this position. Larkin manages to get up. Tries to push the action. Koreshkov once again runs for the takedown and gets it. Larkin manages to get up but the round comes to an end. 10-9 Koreshkov
