Donald Trump is too old to compete in MMA.

That should come as a sigh of relief to the top combatants in UFC, who would probably get destroyed by the former U.S. President. That’s according to welterweight title challenger Colby Covington, who lauds Trump as the superior fighter.

“He is my good friend, it’s not like I was just meeting up with him every couple of months,” Covington told Mirror Fighting. “I was at his house in Mar-a-Lago a couple of weeks ago. I call him regularly to ask him about a gameplan. He’s given me great coaching advice for this fight. Trump is the better fighter, that guy has knuckles like lunchboxes.”

Covington has been stanning for Trump for more than five years, following their ostentatious photo op back in summer 2018 (see it here). In addition, Trump makes it a habit to attend UFC events to support longtime friend and UFC CEO Dana White .

“That guy is so big that he would destroy me if we fought,” Covington added. “I have the most important and famous person on planet earth coming to my fights to watch me front row. Who does Leon (Edwards) have? Does he have the royal family, Paddington the Bear, or Mary f****ng Poppins coming? Leon is a nobody, he is the B-side and I’m the A-side.”

Expect Trump (or his body double) to be “front row” when Covington challenges Leon Edwards for the welterweight title atop the UFC 296 pay-per-view (PPV) event this Sat. night (Dec. 16, 2023) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
