A highly-anticipated rematch between Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight champion, Sean O’Malley, and No. 6 ranked, Marlon Vera, now has a confirmed location.
During the recent “UFC 2024 Seasonal Press Conference” (replay here), UFC president Dana White revealed that the title fight would be taking place in Miami, Fla., on March 9, 2024, though no venue was revealed. The last time the promotion was in “The Magic City” was this past April for UFC 287, which featured Israel Adesanya getting revenge on Alex Pereira by knocking him out in the second round (see it here). That event went down inside the Kaseya Center.
O’Malley and Vera initially threw down at UFC 252 in 2020 which resulted in “Chito” stopping “Sugar” in the very first round via technical knockout (TKO), his first and only loss to date. Since then, O’Malley has gone on to win five of six to go along with a No Contest against Pedro Munhoz.
As for Vera, he has gone 5-2 since defeating the current champion with losses to Jose Aldo and Cory Sandhagen. After O’Malley stunned Aljamain Sterling to win the belt earlier this year, O’Malley was quick to say that Vera would be getting the first shot in order to get his revenge.
Also on the card, Curtis Blaydes will battle Jailton Almeida in a Heavyweight fight, while Mateusz Gamrot battles Rafael dos Anjos in a Lightweight affair. In further action, Katlyn Chookagian will take on Maycee Barber.
