Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

It’s easy to forget amidst all the chaos that is Conor McGregor’s life that he’s also being sued for roughly $30 million. Artem Lobov, McGregor’s longtime close friend and training partner, believes his part in the creation of Proper 12 whiskey and some alleged handshake agreements entitle him to five percent of what McGregor made from the $600 million sale of Proper 12 back in April 2021.

In November of 2022, Lobov brought his woes to court and sued his former team mate. Since then, he’s been handed at least one defeat after a judge threw out his defamation lawsuit, legally clearing McGregor to label him a “rat” and “uncooked sausage.” Oh, and Lobov has to pay McGregor’s legal fees regarding that suit.

Still, it’s not over. The primary Proper 12 lawsuit continues through the Irish court system, and Lobov just dropped a conversation between himself and McGregor that could soon be read in the courtroom.

“Flawless work tonight,” the first text from Lobov to McGregor reads, dated August 2017. “I loved every second, you were never there for me to hit but always there to hit me! Perfection!”

“Thank you brother for all your work,” McGregor allegedly wrote back. “I’ve got you with this fight brother. This fight and this whiskey deal I am going to look after you. You are always there for me brother and I appreciate all your work.”

Lobov: “Than you so much Conor. I won’t take anything for the camp as its great for me and my skill also and I am delighted to be here, so please don’t send me money for it, please. The whiskey is going to be huge!!! Audie told me that you are giving me a percentage, thank you very much for that, it’s going to be massive success.”

McGregor: “Don’t worry bout it my brother!”

I have full trust in the Irish legal system and look forward to clearing my name in the High Court. I’ve been the most loyal friend to Conor, never allowed myself to take money from my brother for camps, because we helped each other achieve our dreams! Its been an honour for me to help him build his biggest business!

Are WhatsApps messages considered legally binding contracts? Ultimately, that’s up for the Irish courts to decide. Either way, stay tuned for further updates to the Proper 12 lawsuit.

Is Rinya Nakamura Japan’s best hope at a UFC champion right now? He has that dynamic athleticism that separes him from the pack in a special way.

I’m very much looking forward to the eventual rematch between Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan.

Ouch.

If this were anyone else but Aleksei Oleinik, I would be writing about how this is less-than-ideal form on an arm triangle. Given his expertise, however, I’m going to trust that “Boa Constrictor” knows best how to make his arms crush necks.

Yeah, this is a brutal sequence.
