Happy New Year! Your parlays just went to s—t!

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently overhauled its UFC Vegas 84 fight card, thanks to multiple injuries, with two bouts getting canceled for the promotion’s return to APEX on Sat., Jan. 13, 2024 on the ESPN+ digital network.

Yana Santos was removed from her bantamweight bout against Norma Dumont and matchmakers were unable to secure a late replacement, according to the UFC website, sending their 135-pound showdown to the scrap heap.

Similarly, Ketlen Vieira got yanked from her bantamweight contest opposite Macy Chiasson, with no replacement available. On paper it would make sense to pit Dumont vs. Chiasson, but UFC did not clarify if that offer was ever presented.

Elsewhere on the card, Bassil Hafez is out of his welterweight fight against Preston Parsons, who will move on to face Matthew Semeslberger on short notice. At featherweight, Jean Silva has been tasked with replacing Gabriel Santos to fight Westin Wilson.

Denys Bondar is not injured but visa issues are preventing him from traveling to “Sin City” for “Ankalaev vs. Walker 2.” As a result, the Ukrainian “Psycho” has been removed from his flyweight affair with Felipe Bunes and replaced by “Fearless” Joshua Van.
