Bellator heavyweight finalist, Eric ‘The American Soldier’ Prindle (9-1, 1NC) is on the mend updating his fans on his condition after being kicked on the groin by fellow finalist, Thiago Santos.
Prindle Tweeted (@EricPrindleMMA) this message on Monday, “the doc said theirs no torsion but I have to back to the doc. See if the swelling will go down …my right boy is dubble size”
The two met in the main event of Bellator 59 this past Saturday (Nov. 26, 2011) at Caesares Atlantic City in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
After an early takedown, Santos stood up while Prindle was on his back. Santos went to kick his opponent in the back of the leg but instead kicked Prindle between the legs. The referee immediately jumped in and gave ‘The American Soldier’ five minutes to recover.
Once the five minutes were up, the cage side physician spoke to Prindle, who appeared in obvious pain, telling that doctor he felt like “throwing up”. The bout was official labelled a “No Contest” at 1:24 of the first.
The event marked the end of Season Five, and Bellator officials will now have to look at re-booking the two for a future date once Prindle’s recovered.
