Henry Cejudo went from headlining UFC championship PPV cards to calling for APEX fights against opponents ranked outside the Top 5 — all within the span of one year.

Henry Cejudo won a gold medal at the Olympics and previously held a pair of titles for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which is why fans have become accustomed to Cejudo and his supporters calling “Triple C” the greatest combat sports athlete in history.

How the mighty have fallen.

Cejudo, 37, ended his (first) retirement early last year but has been unable to find the win column in two trips to the cage, coming up short on the judges’ scorecards against former champion Aljamain Sterling (UFC 288) and top contender Merab Dvalishvili (UFC 298).

“Hey Rob Font, my wife told me I need to spend more time with my kids so let’s meet up July 20th at the Apex,” Cejudo wrote on Twitter. “Don’t even worry about getting me a Father’s Day Gift, the beating I’m gonna give you will be good enough. Sign the contract hoe.”

So much for that fight at The Sphere.

Other fans suggested he start fighting on Dana White’s “Contender Series.”

Cejudo (16-4) is currently ranked No. 5 at 135 pounds, four spots above Font at No. 9. Like the former champ, Font is also coming off a pair of losses but has yet to compete in 2024, having last seen action in a losing effort against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Austin.

Font has not responded to Cejudo’s bantamweight callout … yet.
