Jones is starting to warm up to the idea of a fight with Aspinall, but only because market forces are making it more interesting.

Jon Jones has responded to Tom Aspinall’s multiple callouts at UFC 304.

The British interim heavyweight champion had a spectacular performance in Manchester, England, knocking out Curtis Blaydes just a minute into their rematch in the co-main of the event at a sold out Co-Op Live arena (watch the highlights here). Afterwards he repeated his oft-made demand to unify the heavyweight title against Jones.

“Who wants to see Tom Aspinall against Jon Jones?” he demanded to the crowd, who roared in approval despite it being 5AM local time.

The only problems: Jones won’t be fit to compete until November, and is already scheduled to fight Stipe Miocic then. If he doesn’t retire immediately after that, he’s made it clear that he wants the biggest fights for the biggest money, not just the next random guy in line.

Thus far “Bones” has made it clear he doesn’t think Aspinall qualifies — he has called out Alex Pereira instead. But in a new post on X (formerly Twitter) Jones suggested Aspinall was getting in the right place.

“Supply and demand at its finest,” he wrote. “I love it.”

Supply and demand in markets are tied to price. The higher a demand for something, the higher a price can be charged to supply it. So Jones seems to be suggesting that Aspinall has gotten demand up to that spot where Jon is contemplating supplying his services.

Tom is certainly doing his best to push demand. In a video posted to social media following UFC 304, he once again threw down the gauntlet and declared himself the best heavyweight in the world.

“Hello Jon, I have nothing against you personally, but I just think I’m better than you,” he said. “I just know that I can beat you in a fight, so I am coming for it.”
