‘Bullet’ is 3-0 with the UFC and expects to re-sign with the promotion.

After defeating Michal Oleksiejczuk in the co-main event of last weekend’s UFC Abu Dhabi fight night, Shara “Bullet” Magomedov is now a free agent.

The Dagestani fighter is 3-0 with the UFC and has earned himself two performance bonuses. After Nick Diaz pulled out of the Abu Dhabi fight card, he stepped in on a few weeks notice to fight Oleksiejczuk. All this to say we expect Shara to stick around and re-sign with the promotion.

“I’ve just had my last fight under current contract, now I am hoping to get a new one,” Magomedov said via Red Corner before joking, “But after the Mokaev situation, yes I am a bit nervous.”

Muhammad Mokaev fought out the final fight on his contract, only to be very publicly dismissed by the UFC for being difficult to deal with. Mokaev suspects someone was feeding false information to UFC CEO Dana White claiming he was in talks with PFL. Fortunately, there’s no such drama surrounding “Bullet.”

“My manager Ali Abdelaziz and Rizvan Magomedov, they are top notch managers,” he said. “So I trust them in all respects and I don’t worry at all.”

Shara is in a bit of an unusual spot due to blindness in one eye. It’s doubtful the fighter will ever be cleared to fight in North America. Despite this, he’s gained quite the following and is clearly in the good graces of UFC brass despite some holes in his game. We have our doubts, though, that he’ll get the next fight he wants.

“Nick Diaz, let’s go fight,” he said after winning in Abu Dhabi. “You striker, I’m striker, you old, I’m junior fighter. This is very interesting fight and popular with fans. Let’s go, Abu Dhabi, October!”
