It wasn’t a good night for Nikolay Veretennikov … on multiple levels.

Danny Barlow earned his second win inside the Octagon at UFC Vegas 95 last night (Sat., Aug. 10, 2024), notching a unanimous decision over Veretennikov — who was making his promotional debut — from inside the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Prior to Veretennikov making his long-awaited Octagon entrance, the Kazakh fighter screwed up his walkout, attempting to weave through the crowd as he was confused about where to go.

Checkout the hilarious clip below:

UFC’s broadcaster added, “Octagon’s this way.”

If you are unfamiliar with UFC’s walkout process, let me explain. First, a promotional package for the upcoming fight plays to the audience in attendance. As that plays, the fighter and his or her team line up to walk to the cage. As they stand in the tunnel waiting to walk, a UFC producer is there giving them a five-count and directing them where to go.

So, Veretennikov was either so in his head that he didn’t see the producer tell him where to go or just didn’t understand the simple instructions.

Either way, its baffling — Apex is such a small venue.

Nevertheless, Veretennikov snapped his three-fight win streak at UFC Vegas 95 and will look to get his first UFC win next time out.

Inshallah.
