Fighters hit the scales this evening at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, the same venue for tomorrow’s Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal event.
All eight main card fighters made weight for their respective matches as lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez (155) is set to defend his title against Jorge Masvidal (155). Also defending her title, Women’s featherweight champion Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Santos (145) and opponent Hiroko Yamanaka (145) both hit their marks to make their fight official.
There was one issue during the evening, as prelim fighter Jerron Peoples convinced opponent Roger Bowling (170) to agree to a 179 lbs catchweight bout. Peoples then stepped on the scale at 180.5 lbs, missing the catchweight on his first attempt, and has been given more time to drop the 0.5 lbs.
