Undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr. returns to the “sweet science” to throw hands with D-list celebrity pugilist John Gotti III on Sat. night (Aug. 24, 2024) at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. This weekend’s eight-round exhibition pay-per-view (PPV) spectacle on DAZN will serve as a rematch of their June 2023 headliner, which ended in disqualification (and an in-ring brawl).

But there’s more to this lineup than just “Money.”

Former WBC welterweight champion “Vicious” Victor Ortiz will also get his hands dirty when he collides with No. 5-ranked Argentine assassin Rodrigo Damian Coria. In addition, WBC super bantamweight silver champion David Picasso defends against former world title challenger Azat Hovhanisyan in a 12-round affair. Elsewhere on the card, undefeated rising star Curmel Traymayne Moton battles Mexico’s Victor Vazquez at lightweight.

“I truly believe that if I took a lot of abuse in the sport of boxing throughout my career, then I probably wouldn’t still be doing exhibitions or putting on boxing showcases, but I didn’t take no abuse in the sport of boxing so I feel like I can continue to go out there, have fun and put on shows throughout the world,” Mayweather said at the kickoff press conference (watch the replay here).

“Last time I checked, I’ve beat more fighters that are in the Hall of Fame than any fighter in history and that’s truly a blessing,” Mayweather continued. “But [Gotti] is a tough competitor and I take my hat off to him. He wanna run it back, we can run it back twice, three times. It’s kind of good to just showcase my talent and give people a glimpse of what I was doing when I was at the height of my career.”
