Two more names have been added to the list of fighters taking part in Bellator’s season six featherweight tournament, as Summer Series tournament finalist ‘The Monster From Rio’ Marlon Sandro (20-3) and Season Four tournament finalist Daniel Straus (16-4) were identified by Bellator officials on Tuesday.
The two fighters join Wagnney Fabiano (14-3) and Ronnie Mann (21-4-1) for the upcoming season, which is set to begin this March on MTV2.
The addition of Sandro to the tournament was announced by Sherdog.com, while Straus was named to the tournament by Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney via Twitter (@bjornrebney) Tuesday afternoon.
Sandro earned his way into the Summer Series featherweight finals by defeating Genair da Silva and Nazareno Malegarie only to suffer a second round knockout loss to Pat Curran at Bellator 48. The Brazilian did rebound by earning a first round arm triangle submission of Rafael Dias this past November at Bellator 58. Sandro is a former Sengoku and Pancrase featherweight champion.
Straus had an eleven fight win streak ended by Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire last Spring in the finals of the Season Four tournament, losing by unanimous decision at the Bellator 45 event. Straus earned wins over Kenny Foster and Nazareno Malegarie to make it into the finals. The Ohio based fighter has fought once since the loss to Freire, winning a unanimous decision at a local Caged Fury event this past October.
