Brazilian featherweight Genair ‘Junior PQD’ da Silva (11-4) will return for his second Bellator Fighting Championships tournament this coming Spring as a participant in Bellator’s season six featherweight tournament.
MMAjunkie.com announced the news on Friday after learning of his participation through sources close to the fighter.
Bellator’s sixth season is expected to kick off in early March on MTV2. As well as featuring featherweights, the promotion will also include tournaments in the bantamweight, lightweight, welterweight, and middleweight divisions.
‘Junior PQD’ was bounced in the opening round of this years “Summer Series” by finalist Marlon Sandro, who was also announced as a participant for season six. The two went a full three rounds at Bellator 56 in June, with Sandro earning the split decision. Da Silva did recover from that loss by earning a first round Brabo choke submission at Bellator 52 in October over Bryan Goldsby.
Da Silva now joins Sandro, Alexandre “Popo” Bezerra, Wagnney Fabiano, Ronnie Mann and Daniel Straus for the 145-lbs tournament.
