Hill raised a lot of eyebrows when he mimed a big yawn following the UFC 307 barnburner of a main event. Here’s

Jamahal Hill is firing back at haters who misunderstood his big yawn at the end of UFC 307 after Alex Pereira and Khalil Rountree competed in a four round war that left most fans on their feet cheering.

The over-the-top yawn was so ridiculous given Hill’s first round KO loss to Pereira that it became the talk of the post-fight press conference, with “Poatan” dryly suggesting Hill “just woke up from UFC 300.” Now “Sweet Dreams” is addressing the incident in a new UFC 307 breakdown video.

“It’s crazy how y’all see a clip with no context, no nothing, and y’all just be ready to talk s— and attack and come disrespectful as ever,” Hill said. “‘Oh, Jamahal said the fight was boring.’ I never said the fight was boring, alright? And I wanna start this off by giving Khalil his props because he showed a level of toughness, a level of preparation that was a question mark for me in this fight for him.”

Hill went on to compliment Rountree for making it into the fourth round and utilizing his southpaw stance to give Pereira problems. He even gave props to Pereira for making adjustments a few times through the fight to counter those problems and eventually score the finish.

“Now to the yawn,” he continued. “The yawn at the end was, was it entertaining? Yes. Was I impressed? No. The yawn was, ‘I’m not impressed.’ I’m not impressed. I’m ready to go. Was it entertaining? Yes. Am I impressed? No. Did I see anything in the cage that scares me or that I didn’t expect to see? No.”

Those that believed Hill was being bitter because he wanted Pereira to lose don’t understand how “Sweet Dreams” is thinking these days.

“I’m happy Alex won because I want him to be as big of a giant in your minds as possible the next time I face him,” he said. “I don’t care at this point, he can go to Magomed next, if he fights him, and he could lose. That’s still the fight that I want. I don’t want the belt. I want that fight. That’s the fight that I want.”

But Hill isn’t going to sit around and wait for “Poatan” to win or lose again. He’s recovered from a knee injury and ready to get back to work.

“Contract is already on the way, name has already hit the desk,” he declared. “Touch ‘em Up University will be in session.”
