Following their run-in years ago following Conor McGregor’s boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, UFC alum, Brendan Schaub and Nate Diaz appear to have rekindled their rivalry on social media overnight, with the former heavyweight contender vowing to “snap” the Stockton native’s neck in response to a barb online.
Schaub, a former heavyweight contender under the banner of the UFC and finalist on The Ultimate Fighter, called time on his career in combat sports back in 2015, following a ground strikes knockout defeat to perennial contender, Travis Browne the year prior — upon encouragement from UFC color-commentator, Joe Rogan.
As for Diaz, the former lightweight title challenger has yet to make good on a rumored return to the Octagon since he departed the Dana White-led promotion two years ago, bowing out with a rallying submission over former interim champion, Tony Ferguson in his final contracted fight with the organization.
Notably involved in a heated backstage altercation during a run-in years ago in which the heavyweight defended McGregor’s performance in his 2017 knockout loss to former world champion, Mayweather, Diaz attempted to add fuel to the fire of their rivalry overnight — leading to a definitive response from the UFC veteran.
Brendan Schaub challenges Nate Diaz to grappling matchup
“Brendan the big ‘ol p*ssy Schaub,” Nate Diaz posted on his official X account.
“Oooh buddy, I prob (sic) got 20lbs on you so also not too far off,” Brendan Schaub replied to Nate Diaz. “I’ll snap your neck. Set up a grappling match and let me know how it goes for you. Have one of your handlers read this tweet and get back to me.”
“Not sure what set this dude off,” Brendan Schaub said of Nate Diaz in a further post on his official Instagram account. “Mentioning CTE I assume. All good. Do something about it, bud. I’m not hard to find. Have your handles set up a grappling match. Let’s see how it goes for you.”
