“Gamebred” has colossal plans in the works.
Two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight title challenger and original Baddest Motherf—ker (BMF) Jorge Masvidal has his eighth Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA event coming up next month in Biloxi, Mississippi, with 13 former UFC fighters on the card (check out the full card here).
One of the fighters competing at Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA 8 is former UFC and Bellator fighter Alessio Sakara. Sakara has not competed since 2019, when he slept Canaan Grigsby in the first round.
Masvidal has enormous plans for the Italian mixed martial arts (MMA) legend.
“Alessio f—kin Sakara, I can’t believe it. Man, I’ve known Sakara- I’m going to say 17 years, and I’ve been telling him he’s going to fight for my show. I see him every day at American Top Team, and I’m like, you’re going to fight for my show,” Masvidal told MMAMania.com recently. “One day he tells me, ‘I’m f—king free to fight, [send me] contract,’ so I immediately put him in contact with my team….”He’s another guy that I’m crazy excited about. I mean, he was so technical in his prime, so fast, so sharp. To see him in bareknuckle, he might just start slicing faces up, butcher someone’s face.
With Sakara, we got a good thing going with him. We might take the show to Italy; we’re working on it,” Masvidal added. “It’ll be the first time to fight bare knuckle in Italy; no one’s ever done that before. Maybe even at the Colosseum, we’re talking to the people over there. It would be nuts because that’s where this type of entertainment started…It would be the craziest thing ever, and no promotor has ever done that, but your boy right here is about to do it. We’re working on it; we’re talking with the Italian government. Alessio Sakara is obviously a superstar over there, so we’ll see what happens.”
Last year, when the world lost its minds over a mythical Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg fight, Italian officials requested that the fight take place inside the Colosseum but then quickly changed their minds. Even UFC CEO Dana White even met with Italian officials to discuss possibilities.
According to americanliterature.com, the last fight in the historic venue was 404 A.D.
Will Masvidal be the one to pull it off? Most likely not, but who knows in this insane combat sports world?
